A KOUROS STATUE(KOUROS TENEA)

 

Typical works of Archaic Ionian sculpture are the “kore”(standing maiden) and “kouros”(standing youth). These were placed on a flat, rectangular base the centural part of which was hollowed out to receive the feet of the statue. The figures were mostly created as votive offerings or as tomb monument.

 

고대 이오니아 조각의 전형적인 작품은 코레와 코러스이다. 코레는 처녀입상을 코러스는 청년입상이다. 이들은 납작한 직사각형 기단 위의 놓여지며 그 중앙부분 움푹 패인 곳에 석상의 발이 놓여진다. 이 인물상들은 대부분 봉헌물이거나 무덤의 기념물로 만들어졌다.
